Scotland’s most popular trail, the West Highland Way, is a challenging 95 mile walk from Milngavie near Glasgow leading northwards to Fort William, beneath Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain. The Scotsman has also named us as one of Scotland’s most haunted pubs!

As you enter the reception hall you are faced by a full grown, stuffed grizzly bear, an assortment of other animals and the assured feeling that this place is going to stay in your consciousness for a long time to come, for all the right reasons. The decor and furniture, in deference to the past, remain as authentic as The Drovers itself. The Drovers Inn is an old inn used by the Highland drovers who used to drive their cattle down the side of Loch Lomond to the markets. You can sense three centuries of Scottish hospitality and feel the history of the people who have passed through the ghosts are in the walls, generations of tales in the air. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place, which is a shame as the setting is lovely but it needs a complete overhaul.Located at the top of beautiful Loch Lomond on the A82 to Crianlarich, you’ll find the historic Drovers Inn, a fantastic Loch Lomond Hotel – not to be missed! From the moment you pull up outside and then enter The Drovers Inn, you just know that you are experiencing something truly unique. I was so cold I almost went without a shower that morning and left as soon as we could to find warmth and breakfast elsewhere. There was soap, no shampoo in the bathroom. All reviews shown are from real guest experiences. There were empty packets of tea and sugar in the basket they were stored in and the kettle still had water in it from the previous occupants. Travellers Rest Motel is located a short 12-minute walk from Fantasy Island. In the light of day, I discovered the toilet seat was dirty, the floors all filthy, the venetian blinds were caked with dust and stained.
The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows hard and we didn't sleep well. When we came back it was no warmer, so we went to bed in order to get warm. It was still freezing so left it on (against instructions) to go out and have dinner. The pathetic reverse cycle air con unit hardly heated the space at all, despite turning it up to 25C then 30C to see if that would help. However, given that the overnight low had been 4C the night before, I would have expected some heating to have been put on before our arrival. As a large open plan space with bathroom, utility room and a second bedroom off it, we weren't that surprised it was so cold. We were surprised to find ourselves in a family unit, which was freezing. I phoned the manager as the office was unmanned (4.30pm) who said she'd made a mistake and told us to wait 5 minutes and go back to the office to get another key. When we arrived we had to collect our key from a key safe and went to our room, only to find someone else's belongings in it.
